I don't have a C: Program Files REAPER Plugins folder. Or a Reaper folder, either. There isn't one in the (x86) directory, either. AFAIK, there has never been one. Reaper is installed on a non-system drive partition. The issue is not that it takes a long time to scan, it's that it seems to do it when it wants to, and on an unpredictable. Sep 09, 2008 Sorry if this question seems extremely basic, but I can't seem to find the VST folder to put newly installed virtual instruments in. I am using Windows with Reaper as my DAW, and I have searched that it's suppose to be in a directory located in a folder called 'Steinberg'. I assume you have installed the plugin itself in your usual VST Folder, so that you can load up the VSTi in Reaper. I also assume you know the location of the.exb File by now. You then use the open File Button within the Proteus Plugin to browse the harddisk and load the.exb File. I marked it in the Screenshot that I attached.

Hi, not sure if this is where I post this.
Im very new at the whole making music thing, and learning everything about Live 9.Location
I was interested in using the 'Massive' plug in I saw a tutorial on.
The problem I'm having is that none of my plug ins are showing up, but all the instruments show up. I was using Live 9.1 I think, and then read that I should use 32/64 bit accordingly, so I downloaded the trial in both 32/64, none worked. I also tried various other things like uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting files.db etc.Can
Another thing to note is that when I check the route to my VST folder it says it doesn't have one.

However, it doesn't always re-scan. Today though, I have run Reaper twice and both times it scanned the plugins. The system is identical to yesterday's configuration, in which I ran Reaper and quit it many times, although it did scan the plugins paths three times out of all the runs.
Reaper scanning the plugins is still faster than ProTools just starting up though. BUT...I can't understand why sometimes it does this and other times it does not. It used to scan after a system restart and then I would be fine until the next crash that forced a reboot, which could be days or even weeks later. Now...it's happening often but just totally haphazardly, which seems quite odd.
I did check the Reaper installation folder and its Plugins and FX folders and I don't see anything in there that looks out of place. Certainly, I don't recognize anything that I have added to the plugins in the last month or so. The FX folder has only things that begin with 'Rea' anyway, so I'm pretty sure those are okay. And comparing the Plugins folder with an older installation I also have I don't see anything unusual.
It's a mystery!
